The capping ceremony of the Nursing students of IVA Para Medical Campus was successfully held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, on the 18th of February 2023. The Chief Guest was Dr. Rukshan Bellana, the Deputy Director of Colombo National Hospital and the president of the Government Medical Officers’ Forum (GMOF). Nearly 1500 nursing students participated and each senior nursing officer was given the opportunity to place the nursing cap upon the students. Nursing students took the Nightingale oath after receiving their cap and the lamp. This Nightingale oath is a statement that defines nursing and helps to articulate for everyone, including nurses themselves, the range of essential responsibilities of nursing.
