The Community Development Project is a compulsory fulfillment of the Nursing course at IVA Para Medical Campus. The main objective is to undertake a community-based project and to implement social development as teamwork.
“Donating one unit of blood may save the lives of up to three people”, according to the American Red Cross Society.
Nursing students of IVA paramedical campus Kandy got an immense opportunity to donate blood to the Blood Bank of General Hospital Kandy on 16th August from 9 am to 11.45 am and the students also got an opportunity to participate in a lecture provided by the sister in charge of the blood bank before commencing the donation and it was such a worth experience for both the students and the staff of blood bank of General Hospital Kandy to witness a vital service to the community.
“Blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person – the gift of life. A decision to donate your blood can save a life, or even several if your blood is separated into its components – red cells, platelets, and plasma – for which can be used individually for patients with specific disease conditions.”
