The Community Development Project is a compulsory fulfillment of the Nursing course at IVA Para Medical Campus. The students are provided with the opportunity to interact with the community and gain specific knowledge and develop their skills including teamwork skills, leadership skills, and communication skills. The main objective is to undertake a community-based project and to implement social development as teamwork.
Nursing students of IVA paramedical campus Panadura got an immense opportunity to visit “Jayasiri de Silva Memorial Senior Citizen home”, an aged care center located in Wadduwa, as a part of their project implementation. Senior citizens were provided with breakfast, desserts, and a kit of daily necessities which will be useful for them as well. This kind of collaborative working platform has enhanced nursing students’ learning experiences in aged care homes during past years, according to research done in 2019.
